William Crowder
William is a Managing Director with DreamIt Ventures. He works closely with DreamIt’s NYC and Philadelphia programs. He is also responsible for the oversight and operation of DreamIt Access, our newly announced effort to increase the number of minority-led startups. William is the Founder and Managing Director of Growth Strategy Advisors, a boutique strategic advisory and business development company launched in 2008. Since its inception, William has overseen the firm’s growth and nationwide expansion. As GS Advisors’ Managing Director, he has been directly involved in the formation and implementation of new growth strategies, assessments of new business opportunities, and the launching of new ventures for a variety of digital and traditional media companies.
Throughout his career he has served as a trusted advisor to senior executives at companies such as AOL, Thomson Legal (now Thomson Reuters), Radio One, and Interactive One. He has over 15 years of strategy and operations consulting experience; many of them with technology and digital media businesses. He has also been involved in the acquisition and integration of several technology-focused companies including TACODA and Third Screen Media (both acquired by AOL), Community Connect (acquired by Interactive One), and Transaction Network Services (acquired by GTCR).
Prior to founding GS Advisors, William led strategic efforts at AOL, was a consultant with Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman), and early in his life developed first generation Internet software. William holds an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and BS and MS degrees in Computer Science from North Carolina State University.
Charlie Kemper
Charlie is a Partner at Revel Partners whose investment experience spans companies and technologies in the infrastructure & media sectors.
Before helping launch Revel in February 2011, Charlie was a Principal with Steelpoint Capital Partners, a media & technology growth equity firm he joined in 2005. While at Steelpoint, he led or participated in numerous successful investments in the media & communications fields including AdSpace Networks, Atempo, Boingo Wirless (IPO), Jitterbug, PacStar Communications, PrivaSys, Promptu, SeaMobile, Topica, WMI Media Solutions, and WorkShare.
Previously, Charlie worked with Darby Overseas Investments, a global private equity firm led by Nicholas Brady, former US Secretary of the Treasury and Chairman of Dillon Read & Co, where he helped launch plan an early-stage venture fund focused on Latin America. Earlier in his career, Charlie was a Co-Founder & Managing Director of a Chicago-based digital media agency, KMF, focused on intranet design and e-commerce system integration.
In addition to Revel, Charlie is a General Partner at Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator, the leading NY-born community-driven incubator. He is also a Founding Officer & Chair of the New York City Venture Connection, a networking organization comprised of the leading venture capital firms in the Greater New York area.
Sophia Chou
Sophia Chou is president and co-founder of Loudly, a mobile communications platform that is revolutionizing the text and call experience. As a longtime webpreneur and front-end developer, Sophia has definitely done her fair share of applying to accelerators. Most recently, she participated in the WIM accelerator's inaugural class and just went through demo day. She firmly believes in women helping women, innovation, and lifelong learning.
Mike Seiman
Mike Seiman is the CEO & Founder of CPX Interactive, a global digital advertising media company that he co-founded while still a college student at Hofstra University in the early 2000's. The company has grown quickly and is now a major player within the crowded online advertising landscape, serving over 60 billion ad impressions in more than 65 countries every month. With offices in the US, Spain, Germany and Turkey, CPX Interactive continues the rapid growth that led to its inclusion on Inc. Magazine’s list of fastest growing privately held advertising/marketing companies in 2008 and 2009.
Mike was selected as a semi-finalist in Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year initiative in both 2009 and 2010.
In his free time, Mike currently serves on the Board of Directors of his alma mater, Hofstra University. He also focuses on numerous philanthropic initiatives including sitting on the boards of the H.E.S. (Hebrew Educational Society non-profit community center) and Children's International, where he spearheaded the development of a community center in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Also a fan of the arts, Mike has executive produced a feature length film distributed by Lionsgate.
Steven Kuyan
Steven Kuyan serves as the Assistant Director to the Incubator Initiatives at NYU-Poly. In this role he is responsible for strategic initiatives to accelerate innovation at the University through student involvement as well as sustaining and supporting the entrepreneurial ecosystem in New York City. The Incubator Initiatives consists of 3 incubators (Varick Street, NYC ACRE and DUMBO) out of locations in downtown Manhattan and DUMBO in Brooklyn. Steven is also the founder and advisor to the NYU-Poly Entrepreneurship and Innovation Association, a student organization that is bridging the gap between academia and entrepreneurship to streamline student ventures.
